Quadraphonic sound still lives here in the Basement! Though it is often considered a failed medium, that does not mean it was bad - just ahead of it's time. It has recently been making a comeback under the guise of 5.1 surround sound. But that format was designed for movies: the center channel is for dialogue, not necessary for music - and if you've got a good 4ch amp and four good speakers, who needs a subwoofer?
